Returns & Refund Policy

Statutory Right of Withdrawal

State Bicycle Co. offers EU consumers a 14-day right of withdrawal against manufacturer's defects and change of mind on all bicycle purchases. This is a legal right under the EU Consumer Rights Directive and applies to all distance sales (online orders) to EU addresses.

You have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 calendar days of receiving your order, without providing any reason.

  • Withdrawal period begins on the date you receive the goods.
  • The 14-day period is a calendar day count, not business days.
  • If the 14-day period ends on a non-working day, it extends to the next working day.

Condition of Returned Goods

Returned bikes and parts must be returned in the condition they were received, with normal wear and tear permitted. State Bicycle Co. accepts returns of:

  • Unassembled bikes in original packaging
  • Bikes with minimal use (normal test riding permitted)
  • All components and accessories in resalable condition
Important: Bikes that have been professionally assembled or customized cannot be returned, as they are considered non-standard goods.

Returning Your Goods

To exercise your right of withdrawal:

  1. Notify State Bicycle Co. by emailing info@statebicycle.eu within the 14-day period with your name, order number, and clear statement that you wish to withdraw.
  2. Return the goods within 14 days of notifying us with all original packaging, documentation, and photos of any damage to info@statebicycle.eu.
  3. You are responsible for return shipping costs, unless the bike arrived damaged or defective.

Refund Processing

State Bicycle Co. will refund the full purchase price within 14 days of receiving your returned goods, provided they are in a resalable condition.

  • Refunds are processed to your original payment method.
  • Return shipping costs are covered by State Bicycle Co. only for defective or damaged items.

Exceptions to the 14-Day Withdrawal Right

The right of withdrawal does not apply to:

  • Bikes that have been professionally assembled or modified
  • Custom-built or made-to-order bikes
  • Items where factory sealing has been broken and cannot be resold
  • Items that show damage beyond normal use

Faulty, Defective, or Damaged Goods

If you receive a bike that is faulty, defective, not as described, or damaged during shipping:

  • You have the right to a full refund OR replacement OR repair
  • This right applies for up to 2 years from the date of purchase (EU legal guarantee)
  • Return shipping costs are covered by State Bicycle Co. for defective items
  • Professional assembly costs are covered if the fault is manufacturer-related

How to Report Damaged or Defective Goods:

Contact info@statebicycle.eu with your name, order number, photos of damaged parts, photos of packaging damage, and a detailed description of the defect.

Please note: State Bicycle Co. is not responsible for damage resulting from customer negligence or improper packaging on return.

Warranty & Professional Assembly Requirement

State Bicycle Co. offers a five-year warranty against manufacturer's defects on all bicycle frames and forks.

  • Warranty is only valid for original purchase and is non-transferable.
  • Manufacturer defects do not include damage resulting from improper use or lack of maintenance.
  • Five-year warranty excludes Essor USA brand carbon fiber forks (which carry a two-year warranty against manufacturer's defects).

Non-Consumable Parts

State Bicycle Co. offers a one-year warranty against manufacturer's defects on all non-consumable parts/accessories.

Your warranty will only be activated after we have received proof of professional assembly. We require your bike to be assembled by a professional mechanic within 30 days of purchase. This ensures the safest and most optimized riding experience. Please arrange professional assembly with your local bike shop and submit proof to info@statebicycle.eu.

Three Easy Steps to Activation:

  1. Arrange for your bike to be professionally assembled. More often than not, your local bike shop mechanic is happy to perform this for a reasonable fee. Check out our Bike Shop Locator to find a friendly shop near you.
  2. Upon completion of assembly, ask the mechanic to provide proof of a professional build. This can be in the form of a receipt.
  3. Click the 'Register Your Bike' link below to submit your warranty registration information.

State Bicycle Co. is not responsible for charges incurred during professional assembly.

Cancelled Orders (Pre-Shipment)

Orders cancelled before shipment will be refunded in full with no fees or cancellation charges. Once an order has been dispatched from our warehouse, the 14-day withdrawal period applies.
