Pigeon - Core-Line

The Pigeon

My local bike shop received and built my Pigeon. I was excited when I went to pick it up. Mechanic adjusted it for fit and off I went. I’ve only gone on two rides totaling 23 miles, but it rides as well as I expected and looks better than I expected. Maybe a re-review after mile 200.

I've procrastinated on my review for a long while. I've now had the bike for just under a year and 2000 miles. It's had one tune up by REI at about 1000 miles. The only issues I've had are spokes breaking at the hub, but I've learned how to replace them myself and it's easier to deal with than a flat unless you let the nipple slip into the wheel.

Before this bike I was a non-cyclist and hadn't really exercised for the past 6 years. By far the best $400 I've spent as long as I can remember.

Just recently, I went from no accessories on the bike to all of them. Mounted a child seat on the bike and my daughter is enjoying this new adventure. Thinking about buying another to have a "clean" version again. This bike holds up to the test.

State is an amazing company: incredible products, abundant information, outstanding customer service, and fast shipping! Their Core Line fixie has everything I was looking for in a bike! It's worth every penny - if one were to shop around, they are not going to find a better deal. Basic assembly is required, but this allowed me time to become close to this finely machined work-of-art, get to know it on a personal level, and give it a name.

I’m not an avid cyclist, I just needed a bike to commute on and this definitely does the job. Very easy to put together, too. However, the second time I rode it the reflector in the front wheel shattered. It’s not well secured so it flips around and clipped the fork. All things considered, I’m pleased with product for the price. Standard seat is more comfortable than I expected. I wouldn’t buy the u-lock again, though. It’s too small to get it through the wheel and the frame.
